About Ravencoin

Ravencoin (RVN) is a digital peer-to-peer (P2P) network that aims to implement a use case specific blockchain, designed to efficiently handle one specific function: the transfer of assets from one party to another. Built on a fork of the Bitcoin code, Ravencoin was launched on January 3, 2018, and is a truly open-source project (no ICO or masternodes).

Ravencoin is focused on building a useful technology, with a strong and growing community. The project was specifically designed to enable users to create and trade any real-world (e.g. commodities) or digital (e.g. virtual goods) assets on a network that is secure, decentralized, and accessible to all.

Technology

Ravencoin uses a modified Proof of Work (PoW) algorithm called KAWPOW, which is designed to be ASIC-resistant, meaning it's more accessible to individual miners using consumer-grade hardware. The block time is approximately 1 minute, and the block reward is 2,500 RVN. The total supply of Ravencoin is capped at 21 billion coins.

The project is community-driven and has no central authority or company behind it. It's maintained by a group of developers who contribute to the codebase on a voluntary basis.
